SYNAPTIC SPORTS MEDICINE AT LTE WELLNESS CLUB

Acute & Chronic
Injury Care.

Whether something just happened or has been bothering you for months, care starts the same way: understand the problem properly, then build a plan. Provided by Kyle Fisher, MS, LAT, ATC in Pembroke Pines.

ACUTE VS CHRONIC

Two different problems.
One honest process.

An acute injury is recent — a rolled ankle, a strained hamstring, a shoulder that got hurt in last weekend's game. The early priorities are understanding what was injured, protecting it appropriately, and starting sensible progressive loading rather than just resting until it "feels fine."

A chronic or recurring problem is different: pain or limitation that persists, or an injury that keeps coming back every season. Here the question is usually bigger than the sore spot — training load, movement habits, strength deficits and incomplete past rehab all get examined.

What a visit involves

A conversation about your history and goals, a hands-on and movement-based assessment appropriate to the problem, and a clear explanation of what Kyle finds and what he recommends next.

Follow-up that adjusts

Plans are reviewed and progressed based on how you actually respond — not a fixed template. The number and spacing of visits depends on your situation and is discussed up front.

Referral when indicated

Kyle is a licensed athletic trainer, not a physician. If your assessment suggests something that needs imaging, medical diagnosis or a different specialty, he'll say so and help point you to the right provider.

GOOD TO KNOW

Honest expectations.

No clinician can promise a cure or a guaranteed recovery timeline, and you should be skeptical of anyone who does. What assessment-led care does offer is a clear starting picture, a plan with purpose behind each stage, and criteria for progressing — the same structure used in collegiate and professional settings where Kyle has worked. Research on return-to-sport decision-making supports basing progression on measured function rather than the calendar alone (see the return-to-sport testing page for the evidence and its limits).

This service is not emergency care. For suspected fractures, dislocations, head injuries with red-flag symptoms, or anything severe, go to urgent care or the ER first — injury care here begins after emergencies are ruled out.

Do I need a diagnosis before coming in?

No. The assessment itself helps clarify what's going on, and Kyle will refer you onward if your situation needs medical diagnosis or imaging first.

My injury is years old. Is it too late?

Long-standing problems are a core reason this service exists. The assessment looks at why it persists — which is often different from why it started.
