This exam is performed by a licensed athletic trainer. It is not an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, and it does not include X-ray, MRI or other imaging. Clinical examination is good at characterizing many musculoskeletal problems and guiding sensible next steps, but it has limits — and when findings suggest something that needs medical diagnosis, imaging or surgical opinion, the honest output of the exam is a referral, not a workaround.
What you leave with: a clearer picture of the problem, findings you can bring to any other provider, and a recommended path — whether that path is rehabilitation here or a physician's office.
